It's a very peaceful area where you can hear the waves on the lake pretty much anywhere in the park. The trails are really nice, but not for people with mobility issues--lots of uneven terrain and tons of stairs. That said, we had a good time on all the looping trails and finding cool rocks on the beach. It was not very crowded midday on a weekday.

Was perfect trails and experience for my 8 year old kids, the three year old had a harder time and actually tripped and fell into a wooden bench along one trail. Was not easy to carry him back out to the parking lot. But the trails are very natural, lots of stone stairs. Very beautiful area. The trail leads to a very natural beach spot that is gorgeous. Recommend the whole experience for older kids.

Sandy-ish beach. My son went knee deep into Lake Michigan and skipped some rocks. Not as cold as I was expecting or I would have had him bring swimming trunks. Fairly crowded with the Hispanic element present with their festive music (why spoil the lovely sound of waves?). We then drove around the park area. Quite expansive with lots to see. A full golf course is also on the grounds. Seemed well maintained.

We mainly came for the beach. We just moved to the area and are excited to be just minutes away from the lake. There are a lot of rocks so it can be tough on your feet if you walk barefoot. But there are lots of neat rocks and apparently lake glass If you're also into that. The entire area is large and gorgeous!

Love Grant Park, restuarant by beach open in the summer with free music many nights, endless trails, including the infamous 7 bridges, always somewhere to explore, including different ponds, playgrounds and a golf course. Just to warn you, there are parts of the road where it can get pretty bumpy, but other than that, one of my favorite features of South Milwaukee!
