It took 30 minutes to choose a location. The sunset was beautiful, I was at site number 17. From the tent you can see the cloudy valley

It's way up there. On a ledge that was pretty wind-protected (as long as you're not in one of the southwestern edge camps I guess?) with an outstanding view of the sunset over the marine layer. Go in low fire danger times so you can have a campfire.

Had a most excellent experience at Juniper Campgrounds. The grounds were very clean and well kept. No garbage was left lying around or noticable vandalism to the foliage or facilities. With the water shortage the constructed shower and restrooms were locked but very clean and sanitary portables were provided. This is an excellent camp for the stunning sunsets being on the West side of the mountain. Sitting just above the cloud line, early morning views are also awe inspiring. Temps are great in late August to early October. No problems with scavenger critters in the night but locked food and supplies in the car just to be safe. Rangers make regular patrols throughout the day until sunset so I felt very safe leaving items alone while I went hiking. I would definitely recommend these campgrounds to anyone looking for a place with a view.

Lovely, spacious campsites, many with breathtaking views of the San Francisco Bay. Due to drought, there is no water available at this campground, so make sure to bring enough to last through your stay (Nov 2020). Porta potties and a hand washing station are provided near the restrooms. Wild pigs and raccoons love this campground, and the raccoons have figured out how to open the doors to the wooden "bear boxes", so keep that in mind for overnight storage of food and garbage. Friendly staff, well maintained sites and plentiful access to trails make this place extra special.

A lot to like about this campground. The campgrounds are not all the same — the western-facing sites have better views and are more secluded from their neighbors, separated by thickets of bushes. The sites numbering in the low-mid twenties are larger, but are far more open to their neighbors. They’re also closer to the showers. As of January 2022 the bathrooms with running water and showers are out of service due to water restrictions. The pit-toilets and port-a-johns are clean enough and generally devoid of disgusting debris and spiders. Be mindful of raccoons as they’re crafty, and fat. They will reach their little paws through the slats of the critter boxes and snag whatever they can. They might even pop open your cooler. Overall it’s a great campsite and while it can get misty (definitely pack your rain fly) it’s a very pretty place to do some quality glamping.
