Situated on Conzelman Road in Sausalito, California, this campground is part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, known for its natural beauty and recreational opportunities.
This small, secluded campground features only three campsites, making it an ideal choice for groups looking to rent all available spots for a private getaway. The setting provides ample opportunities for hiking and enjoying the natural surroundings with trails and scenic views nearby, including the picturesque Point Bonita Lighthouse.
Important Tips for Visitors:
- Be prepared for a short downhill hike to access the campsites; it's advisable to bring a wagon to help transport your gear.
- The weather can be quite windy and chilly due to the ocean proximity, so packing extra layers for warmth is highly recommended.
- While no open fires are allowed, a cooking grill is available for a small contained fire at the site.
- Restroom facilities include a onsite portable toilet and an additional vault toilet uphill. Water is available at the nearby YMCA camp.
- It's advisable to monitor your confirmation details carefully as privacy can be a concern when leaving them visible on your vehicle's dashboard.
Notes: Visitors often praise the views from campsite 3 and appreciate the peaceful setting and nearby hiking options. However, it’s good to note that the wind and limited facilities might require some preparation. Despite these considerations, the Bicentennial Campground offers a unique and tranquil camping experience with the added beauty of San Francisco's iconic views.
Overall, Bicentennial Campground is a beautiful and intimate camping choice for those looking to enjoy California's natural landscape and explore the Marin Headlands.

I stayed at site 3, which had the best view of the bridge. This campground requires walking down a hill to get to your site, which can be a bit annoying if you need to grab something from your car. The requirement to leave your confirmation email on your dashboard bothered me a bit. There was enough information on the confirmation page that it would help those passing through with ill-intent to steal from me or harm me, so I was a bit creeped out at having that information so readily available for strangers. I don’t particularly want to advertise that I’m a woman camping alone or how long I will be camping, for example. It would be better if I could provide my license plate number during registration instead.

Great secluded campground with tons of hiking options nearby! Note that this area can get extremely windy, and temperatures can be much lower than expected due to ocean proximity. Highly recommend bringing extra layers for warmth if camping.

So lucky to nab this place. Small campground with only three campsites, so would be perfect to rent all three sites for a group camping trip. No fires allowed, but there is a cooking grillThat you could have a small fire in. The view of San Francisco is only visible from campsite number 3,through a peek through the trees. It would be nice if the trees were trimmed back a little to get a better view, but I guess that they help keep the wind out of the campground. A lot of nice hiking trails nearby including the lovely point Bonita lighthouse.
