Been wanting to come here for years and it did not disappoint! Pictures don’t serve justice to how beautiful this waterfall is! Absolutely breathtaking. The hike there wasn’t bad either. The park had plenty of other options, such as boating, camping & more! Definitely family friendly. I went at the end of August and it was crowded with people, but I still enjoyed my time exploring. Would come again!

Taughannock Falls State Park, located in the picturesque Finger Lakes region, offers a truly breathtaking experience. The view of the falls is awe-inspiring and accessible via a less-than-one-minute walk from the parking area. The falls cascade from a height equivalent to about 20 stories, creating a dramatic scene that feels straight out of a movie. Remarkably, I have never seen so many eagles in one place, making it a fantastic spot for birdwatching. Beautifully maintained stairs lead you down the mountain to the base of the falls, where you can enjoy a spectacular view from below. The bathroom facilities are excellent, adding to the park’s appeal. Additionally, Taughannock Falls State Park features a campground for those wishing to stay overnight and a welcoming gift shop for souvenirs. Best of all, you don’t have to pay anything to see the falls—just park your car and take a look, or enjoy the hike down to the base. It’s a must-visit destination for anyone seeking natural beauty and a memorable outdoor experience.

Taughannock Falls State Park is just 10 miles north of Ithaca and has the spectacular 215-foot waterfall. We stopped here for a hike while visiting Ithaca and finger lakes area. There is a nice view of the waterfall from an overlook at the visitor center, but for the best views, park at the base of the gorge and hike a trail. The trail leads under a mile though the gorge to the end and the entire hike is scenic and easy. There is also an upper falls near the entrance to the park. It's about 100 feet but the only view is from a bridge on North Rim Trail. Awesome falls and definitely worth a stop if visiting the Finger Lakes region.

Absolutely gorgeous park! The top viewing area was great, had a nice small store, and had well-kept restrooms. The only complaint is the parking area is small, but it's a sort stop, so watch for people who are leaving to snag a spot. The trail on the lower falls will lead you right to Taughnnock Falls, but you are able to venture off the trail into the creek and enjoy some small falls along the way. I definitely recommend bringing water shoes. The lower trail is also handicap accessible. There is very little to no incline, and the path is flat and well upkept.

We wish that we had more time to spend at this park. We stopped in to hike the gorge. The shorter hike is quite easy, most people including children would be able to complete it easily. We also saw kayaking and swimming at this park, next time we will absolutely spend a day here.
