About This Campsite

Sweetwater Valley Park

Sweetwater Valley Park offers a charming retreat that is often described as a hidden gem among camping enthusiasts in Georgia. While the specific address and city are not provided, its appeal is reflected in its serene surroundings and the variety of amenities available for campers.

Features and Amenities

  • The park is praised for having clean and accessible bathrooms open 24/7, alongside a well-maintained laundry facility.
  • Although there are no expansive playgrounds for children, the site offers a creek and plenty of space to explore, making it somewhat kid-friendly with activities like visiting the goats and walking trails.
  • The park's dog-friendly nature makes it a viable option for travelers with pets.
  • Some visitors note the narrow, speed bump-laden entrance road, which requires careful navigation, as well as a less vibrant check-in area.

Points to Consider

  • Campground spaces are quite close together, offering limited privacy when at full capacity.
  • There are ongoing renovations which might add to or resolve some existing issues, such as outdated bathhouses.
  • Laundry and bathhouse fans are noted as non-functional, with minor mold presence in certain areas.
  • The park seems to attract some long-term residents, and management appears to operate minimally due to personal circumstances.
  • A highlight for many is the scenic beauty and peaceful environment it offers.

Overall Thoughts

Sweetwater Valley Park may not be for everyone due to some outdated facilities and limited recreational options for kids. However, for those looking for a simple but charming stay with essential services and a warm atmosphere, it might be worth considering. Be mindful of the ongoing improvements and approach with the right expectations to fully enjoy the peaceful charm it offers.

This hidden gem is a must visit! We have visited rv parks all across this part of Georgia, and I have to say this park is by far our favorite. I was hesitant after reading reviews, but as a small business owner we decided to check it out for ourselves. The bathrooms are cleaned daily and available 24/7. Laundry facility is large and stocked and clean. We haven't had one single bad encounter and the lady who handles the reservations is prompt and extremely courteous. The entrance road is narrow, however is not hard to access or a nuisance. Please give this gem a try I promise you wont be let down!

Stayed here two weeks. Was going to stay another week but after paying I was informed that there is a two week minimum stay. It looked me that there was a lot of campers that have been there way way longer than two weeks. So I guess I was not allowed to stay more than two weeks. There I absolutely nothing for kids to do there, the playground is buried tires. The only nice thing about the campground is the creek. The place you check in at is dimly lite the ramp going up to the “office” is very slippery. The camping spaces are right on top of one another. The bath house is vey hot so is the laundry room. There is a fan in the bath house but it don’t work. Neither are the two floor fans in the laundry room working. I’d stay for one night that’s it. Showers are some what clean need to be re painted watch out for your head going to either toilet there’s a 2x4 running across there. The camping spots have gravel and mud. The camper next to us had a golf cart with a flat tire. Many of the campers had ez up tent like things. With meat smokers and grills. Was told that area was for out of town workers. Sure looked to me there was a lot tags from Georgia and real close not far away in Georgia. The basketball court is sand. Be careful of the “bridge” over the creek is also very slippery. No hand rails to help support you. The road coming into the campground is pretty much one lane with an excessive amount of speed bumps.

We had a 45' 5th wheel camper, yes, we fit, but it was definitely tight. Try to make sure you show up here in the daylight, not like us at 10:00 at night in the rain. The campground is beautiful and peaceful, and we would visit again with a smaller camper. It was dog friendly and had things for kids to do when my nephews came to visit us there. We had fun waking to see the goats and thrive the pumpkin patch. The speed bumps coming in were a little much, but we made it over them. Everything was clean and everyone was nice even when there was a bad storm and we had to last minute extend our stay they were very accommodating.

Well… We decided to give this place a shot given the mixed reviews. So I’m leaving a very detailed review for others on the fence about this campground. We traveled to GA to go to six flags and explore other parts of ATL for a couple days. Before arriving we received a text regarding a change in the check in process due to the passing of their host. Not a huge deal, however we had zero interaction with anyone from check in to check out. I would have preferred someone in the campground keeping an eye on who was coming and going through there, but that’s just personal preference and I understand circumstances changed that they are working through. Anyway, as others stated, the entrance and road are very narrow. You can see where people have hit the posts with their vehicle or camper pulling in there, so just be extra cautious turning in. I did meet another vehicle as we were pulling through but there was enough room for them to pull off so we could pass. The speed bumps are a bit extreme. It feels like you’re literally running over a Volkswagen beetle that’s been sunk in the ground. Even going 2mph you get jerked around in the vehicle so go SLOWWWW! The “playground” looks trashy, with old worn out kids toys lying everywhere and the balls were deflated and unusable. I wouldn’t even really consider it a playground because it only has a climbing dome and rubber tires buried in the ground. I was expecting something more with swings and a slide. Half of the duck race set up is broken and we had to use leaves because we didn’t know where the ducks were or if there was anything else we were supposed to use. The self check in is a bit sketchy. It’s an old open air cabin with minimal lighting and an old plastic chair to sit and sign yourself in. Really needs a better set up and lighting to make it feel less sketchy if we are having to check ourselves in. The bathhouse is fine. Has one shower and 2 toilets. Looks like the paint is chipping in the shower, but it’s functional if you need to use it. There’s also a snack machine and a nice indoor laundry area. The camping spots are very close together. Much closer than I prefer. The spot we stayed in was so close to the neighbor and there was another spot between us and them! If there was a camper in that spot, we would have been able to see right into their windows. If this place was at full capacity, there would be no privacy or room to spread out. Looks like there are some full time residents but their spaces looked very nicely kept. There are some walking trails that were super fun for us and very easy to walk. The creek was low, I’m sure from the drought, but it was still a fun time exploring. The grounds of the campground were very well kept! Grass was freshly cut and trails were easily walkable. We didn’t have a table at our spot so I wasn’t able to set up and cook outside like I typically do. There’s also no grills. Looks like every spot does have a fire pit though. Overall, for us, this campground was all we needed. A place to sleep while we explored the city and a good place to stretch our legs in between. The location is ideal and close to everything you need! Publix, gas stations, Dollar General, and plenty of restaurants! Easy access to the interstate. They say they are in the middle of renovations, and I hope they stay on track with those. I would stay here again if we were in the area and just needed a place to sleep. If we wanted to set up camp, I’d probably stay elsewhere so I could ensure I had the space to spread out comfortably.

We have stayed in several RV parks like this. Sure it might a little gravel in spots but the spaces all appear to be level. Mine was. Water and power was good and it's a beautiful location. If you are using navigation to get here, don't turn into the private residence... Keep on going down the road. You will see the sewage dump station eventually on the right. Keep going a little further to check-in. Other people said the restrooms and showers were bad. I posted pictures here. At least the men's room was clean. It certainly could use some updates but it adequate. I didn't use it because there isn't a place to set my clothes and feel comfortable that they wouldn't get wet. I'm going to be generous and give it 4 stars. Obviously a family owned operation and I can see what they're doing here. If they don't do some things soon though it could easily go down hil.
