About This Campsite

Welcome to Sohi Campground

Nestled amidst lush greenery, Sohi Campground offers a rustic and tranquil escape for campers seeking a down-to-earth experience. With options for both RV and primitive tent sites, the campground is harmoniously integrated into the forest, providing a serene backdrop for relaxation and outdoor fun. Managed by friendly folks Ralph and Rob, the campground is equipped with basic facilities like electric hookups, clean bathrooms, hot showers, and ample picnic benches and fire rings.

Key Highlights

  • Beautifully secluded group site encircled by trees.
  • Clean and well-maintained bathrooms and showers.
  • Family-friendly with opportunities for RV parking as well as primitive camping.
  • Picturesque setting for peaceful and relaxing getaways.

Tips and Considerations

  • While the campground offers picturesque surroundings, some amenities like Wi-Fi connectivity and recreational facilities (such as the game room and mini-golf) could benefit from enhancement. If you rely on consistent internet access, consider supplementary options like Starlink.
  • It's recommended to bring your quarters for laundry services as obtaining them on-site might be cumbersome without cell service.
  • The venue does not currently support recycling, so it's environmentally advisable to manage waste responsibly.

Overall Thoughts

Sohi Campground is a charming spot for those seeking an authentic, no-frills natural retreat, set against a backdrop of forested beauty. With its rustic vibe and welcoming atmosphere, it is well-regarded for providing a laid-back camping experience. However, some facility updates could elevate the experience further, making this hidden gem shine even brighter.

Had an incredible weekend at Sohi with a group of 35 friends. When I initially called to inquire about booking their group site and spoke to Ralph, I knew I found my campsite! Ralph and Rob were incredibly friendly and accommodating. We booked the group site which is tree lined and beautiful, has electric, and 2 bathrooms, a sink and shower just for the area. Bathrooms and shower were very clean and well maintained, and had hot water. Plenty of picnic benches and fire rings for use and electric. Our whole group agreed it was a perfect campsite and can't wait to come back. Thank you Ralph!

Great camping area that provides RV and primitive sites. Beautiful scenery and the campsite is built into the forest, not a clear cut field with tent sites. I am giving a 3/5 for service only for the cost. At $20 per person per night, where as other camping areas are billed by site and much cheaper, this place is rather overpriced. But the owners are nice, the camping is excellent, showers hot and plenty of pressure, and they sometimes offer breakfast, which may be the reason for the high cost. Solid 4/5⭐.

The seasonal camper rate this year was $3200 (30 amp) & $3600 (50 amp). The owner talks up that this is a “good rate”— as it is less than other campgrounds in the area. And, overall, SoHi is nice: truly in the woods and a down-to-earth camping experience. We enjoy the beauty of the forest and the vintage, rustic vibe. It’s not for you if you’re classist, because this place welcomes everybody. (Unlike other campgrounds that only accept the rich with brand new campers.) BUT honestly, due to the lack of proper amenities, charging more would be unfair until a thorough spruce up of the place. THE ISSUES: — The Wifi is EXTREMELY spotty. You can’t rely on it. This is even more of a headache when you get no phone service (T-mobile), so to make a phone call or send a text you need to walk to someplace that MAYBE gets wifi, or drive down the road 7 minutes to get service. If you need Wifi to work from home (like me), expect to also incorporate Starlink into your monthly budget. — The washer/dryer are run by quarters, but there’s no way to get quarters without contacting staff (which is really difficult with no phone service). Plus, the one washer doesn’t drain properly and makes clothes smell like mildew; one of the dryers takes forever. They need a quarter machine and to renew the washer & dryer. — There is NO RECYCLING. There are a few bins around that say “please recycle”, but it was confirmed that they just go in the trash. This is really unfortunate since while camping, a lot of people are drinking. So much aluminum and glass (which actually gets recycled) is going to the landfill. Please, just pay for the recycling bin. — The game room NEEDS an air purifier and/or a dehumidifier, especially with kids playing in there. There’s a pervasive mildew smell; I get a headache within 20 minutes. Maybe also a broom and dustpan around so we can help clean up? — There is no mini golf. Advertising that is a joke. The course is in extreme disrepair, BUT with a load of mulch and a day’s work with a carpenter and a shop vac, it could totally be renewed. — The Basketball court is equally questionable. They just poured concrete on the ground without leveling it, and I’ve seen many toddlers wipe out while running. You can still shoot hoops BUT literally every single one of the 10 basketballs around are deflated. They need to buy a pump and leave it in the game room. — Cigarette butts. All in front of the main bathrooms and near the shed where the workers hang out. Hundreds. It’s just disrespectful since this is in the woods— over time harming the animals and the groundwater we're using. Please ask the workers to dispose of the butts properly. Overall, We’d consider coming back next year at the same rate, knowing we’ll have to get Starlink (~$800 for the season) and that we’re getting what we pay for. If the rates increase too much more, I would seriously expect some major improvements before dishing out that cash. (And you should too.)

This is a no frills kind of place. If you want a quiet place to relax when camping then this is your go to place. We have an RV and the site offered just what we needed. We had a great and relaxing time.

This place should be called So Rundown not SoHi.. also should be called So No internet.the wifi apparently hasn't been done by a spectrum business professional. Runs like a home router with some 10year old repeaters. Sending a text with a picture is painful. And the camping fees are outrageous compared to the faculties. Owner should sell close down or spend a buck. Could be a gem.
