Beautiful park, it’s small the observatory tower was closed so we couldn’t go up there. I saw one alligator and some egg shells on the trail next to holes on the ground not sure what animal it belonged too but was so interesting to see. Definitely take water and bug spray.

It's quiet and good for a walk. Due to the season, there are mosquitoes. There were a lot of holes. I was curious as to what they were, so I contacted the State Park. Here is the answer I got. Thank you so much! "That is a hole made by a crayfish, also known as a crawdad or mudbugs! They make these chimneys to burrow down to the water table. They occupy their burrows for protection and to get the moisture they require to breathe through their gills."

Great place to see some nature or a bike ride. Only one way in and out so no thru traffic. Each loop about 4 miles. I ride my triathlon bike out here a lot. About as safe as it gets. I've had my grandkids out here to check out the wildlife. 1st time they have seen a gator or a snake in the wild. Very well kept, nice park rangers.

Despite the fact that it is comparatively secluded, I would still recommend you to visit this place. You shouldn't follow the directions on Google Maps because you'll end up in the backside of the park, which is closed at the moment. You should give the street address and you will reach the front side of the park where there will be security personnel who are very friendly and helpful to provide you with proper advice. A unique thing about this area is that it has trails that you can walk through to explore the wetlands.

I had heard about this state park but never been there. We decided to go check it out. This is a hidden gem!!! There's so much scenery, awesome trails and not crowded at all. Very peaceful and full of wildlife. I highly recommend for a quick getaway and pack a lunch there's plenty of places to sit and eat/rest. FYI- pets have to be on a leash.
