The park is pretty big, spacious. However, there is lack of picnic tables. We set up our table next to the splash pad. And it was hot. Not enough shady area. The splash pad was a disappointment. It turned off 15 mins after we got there and it never turned back on. My husband went to look for someone to help us and to turn on the water, found a guy but he said he doesn’t have the authority to turn it on. The restrooms are clean but it lacked supply. Seat covers were missing and not enough toilet paper.

Parents be warned: the splash pad is not functional! We went on the hottest weekend of the year hoping to cool off and the "splash pad" is just an inoperative concrete slab. Apparently there are plans for it to get working next year, but for now it's just a shadeless wasteland. The playground surfaces get scalding hot in the sun and there is scant shade. Also, no one is enforcing parking restrictions here so the parking lot is a lawless free-for-all with cars double parked, left abandoned at red curbs, stopped in the roadway; it's chaos and no one seems to be in charge. The driveway gates to the parking lot are unlocked and open during daytime hours, but the pedestrian walkways are not though, so if you (like us) have to park on the street because there's no room in the lot, you must enter the facility on foot in the middle of the road. The pedestrian walkways are gated and padlocked even when the park is "open" and there doesn't seem to be any staff or employee in charge of opening them. Lastly, no one is emptying garbage cans so there is trash all over the ground. This place is a public loss and until they can find one or two adults to actually care for the facility, you'd be better off staying home.

I wasn’t immediately charmed by this park as a good place to walk my dog but I ended up being pleasantly surprised. Seems like a great park for kids and families; soccer and baseball fields, a large basketball court. Found a trail that goes along the railroad tracks with a nice variety of foliage. There is a large parking lot and it was quite full. Not my favorite park but it was nice for a change.

I've been meaning to stop by this park for years since I live in Atwater Village and regularly go to Frogtown on the other side of the river from this park. It's a nice park objectively speaking, my favorite parts are the paths closest to the railroad tracks but from what I can tell you can't actually see the la river from this park, so in that sense the name is misleading.

The park is decent for the area, primarily surrounded by soccer fields and some walking trails. There's still plenty of room for improvement. The current facilities are basic, but it has potential. More amenities and upgrades would enhance the overall experience.
