- During renovations, you may have to walk a bit to reach functioning toilets from certain areas.
- Mosquitos and other insects such as ticks can be present, so bringing insect repellent is advisable.
- The showers and water fill facilities may not be fully operational at times, so plan accordingly.
- Families with children will find plenty of space and activities akin to a local community park atmosphere.
- The hiking trails are scenic but not very long, providing gentle walks through the natural landscape.
Overall Thoughts

A gem of a county park. Meticulously clean and managed. There is a sweet little campground of about 20 or so individual spots and a handful of group sites. For this visit we were cooling off with a beach day at the swimming hole, perfect for a picnic and a snooze in the shade of the lovely mature trees. A great family spot. Plenty picnic areas throughout and an archery range as well. The shower house at the swimming hole was being renovated so it was a hike to bathroom facilities.

Camping here is great. The sites are large, clean and well kept. Privacy is good. There don't seem to be any raccoons, and mosquitos aren't bad. Park rangers are very polite and helpful. Fire rings are in very good condition and have excellent cooking grates on them. Fishing is good for small children. The big pond is very weedy, but teeming with bluegills that are too small to keep. It's hard to not catch them. The hiking trails are nice, but none are very long. They are fairly scenic, this part of the Kettle Moraine is very nice.

We camped over the weekend and had a good time. Cons: SO many ticks. Also the pit toilets all around the campground are horrifying. Dirty, smell disgusting. You can’t use them without gagging. Anytime we went to the bathroom we drove to the nice bathrooms near the beach. Hiking trails are more like walks in the grass. There aren’t actual trails. Pros: Nice fire pit, large grassy sites (not dirt or rocks), relatively quiet over Memorial Day weekend. Nice beach.

I have to concur with Mr. Spencer. Toilets were putrid. Dumpsters were full, stunk and were covered in flies. The electric sites for travel trailers were undeveloped and muddy. Something disgusting Oozed out of the fresh water fill and there was one out of 4 showers functioning. It is a place for locals with screaming, littering children. If you are looking for a relaxing camping experience look elsewhere.
