McKinney Falls State Park is a gem! The trails are well-maintained, perfect for hike or bicycle, and the nature here is simply breathtaking—especially at sunset. With its abundance of mature trees, it’s perfect for some solid tree-hugging action (yeah, I’m one of those immigrants who love trees, but no worries, I don’t eat pets liken those ‘aliens’ in Springfield, Ohio). For just $6 per person, you get exceptional views, and it’s ideal for wedding pics, family celebrations, or just some quality nature time. Definitely planning to come back—might even kayak and swim next time, who knows!

McKinney Falls State Park was very beautiful! Definitely a summer must if you’re from the Houston area. It’s about a two hour drive from where I live (spring). It was surprising to me that it was practically in the middle of Austin. Be careful when driving there the roads are very rough. They had two swimming areas. The first one I went to I was not to big of a fan it was the smaller falls. Definitely go to the bigger falls. There are no lifeguards on duty but they do have life vests available for rent at the visitor center. There was lots of shady areas so you can get some sun and shade. My campsite was very cute and actually right next to the bathrooms. It was site 069 and it was an electric campsite. It was less than a minute walk from the bathroom and dumpster. I absolutely loved it though and the rangers were all so friendly and helpful with questions. I will definitely be back for the summer!

We would have liked to understand how staff supports a person if they need assistance. For example phone numbers are not posted nor was it provided on receipt while visiting the Falls and not a camper. It would have also been nice to be reminded that staff would not be available at 7:20 although their hours say they close at 7:30. I had hoped to file a report because my daughter lost her phone that was protected in a case in the murky water. Overall the hike and water temperature was great! Wear proper shoes the limestone is slippery.

Fishing is good here in Thomas mckinney former owner park. Theirs cat fish, Rock Bass, and strange looking water eels here . Theirs a lot of historical rock that he built as walls and homestead. A whole lot of lime stone scenery. I like it because your away from the city pollution lights and thick wooded breath taking out into the country escapade. The night fishing is the best. Cabins are great but you need to bring your own blankets the amenities are provided as follows, a medium size refrigerator, a microwave, a sink, picnic table inside and out, no restrooms in the cabin, its walking distance and the showers combined with it. Theirs trails here if you like to venture into the wooded rabbit hole surrounded by forest atmosphere.

Good trails to walk in! Saw some people biking as well! Didn't get to finish all the trails. Looking forward to go back and complete them! Definitely not recommended for summer though, it's way too hot! A lot of people played by the water : )
