Maybury State Park is undoubtedly one of Michigan's most popular state parks, renowned for its well-maintained trails and scenic beauty. Our family of four recently experienced our first hike here on the West Loop Trail, and it was an unforgettable outing. The weather was perfect, with temperatures in the 70s and a pleasant breeze, making the park feel incredibly peaceful. The hike itself was not difficult, even for our 3-year-old, who ran joyfully throughout the trail. The abundance of shade along the trail created a happy, relaxed vibe. Parking was a breeze, and the park was not crowded, which added to the tranquility of our experience. Maybury State Park features eight fantastic trails, each offering something unique: 1. Maybury Hiking Trail Loop - 3.1 miles 2. Maybury Mountain Bike Trail - 6.7 miles 3. Maybury State Park Paved Trail - 4.8 miles 4. Maybury State Park West Loop - 1.3 miles 5. Maybury Short Loop - 1.0 mile 6. Equestrian Trail Loop - 6.3 miles 7. Maybury Bluebird Meadows Trail - 0.9 miles 8. Best of the State Parks in Wayne County. A 1000 acre park providing excellent outdoor and wilderness recreation in the metro-area. For small children there is a new playground at west parking area. Surface is rubberized with nice playground equipment for kids of different ages. Plenty of seating for parents in shaded areas. Kids will also enjoy the adjacent Maybury Farm. It has a collection of friendly animals a butterfly garden and gift shop. There is a separate entrance fee for the farm. The park offers numerous outdoor recreation activities. The park has 8 miles of hiking and running trails, paved bicycle path and a 5 1/2 miles of mountain bike trails. For group activities baseball, soccer fields and volleyball courts. Park is open in winter for cross-country skiing. Hiking trails transverse through a mature beech-maple forest community. Shady trails provide cool walking environment during summer heat. Wildlife is abundant in the park. The open meadow provides a different wild area experience. Bluebirds and butterflies are abundant in this area. The terrain is hilly ‘for Michigan’. The highest point in Wayne County is in the park. The location is marked on trail signs. Climb this small hill and cross it off your bucket list! Maybury State Park property was a Sanitarium for treatment and quarantine of Tuberculosis patients. Founded in 1919, the facility had 40 buildings and was a self sufficient community growing its own food and generating power. With the development of antibiotics which could cure the disease, the sanitarium was closed in 1969. The state of Michigan took over management in 1975 and established the Maybury State Park. The buildings have been torn down now, historical plaques mark buildings locations. The Maybury Sanitarium Trail a paved self-guided tour, enter from East Parking lot. Look for the large rot-iron entry arc for Maybury Sanitarium.

Clean and paved trails with good signage, it's perfect for walkers, runners, and bikers. Loved the farm with the new baby animals. So much interactive things at the farm for the littles. The playground is great for kids also.

Beautiful state park in North Ville. Good walking tracks, picnic places and sheds, beautiful trails. Well equipped and maintained children's play area.
