We took the short hike down deer trail right at the visitor center and it was a beautiful trail! Well maintained and all kinds of wild life on the trail. Highly recommend taking the 1 mile hike, it is a great start to the morning.

I have been visiting all of the state parks and stopping at each gift shop or visitor center to get my passport book stamp. The young lady at the desk was very nice. She was assisting a young man who is learning how to greet people at the visitor center. Sorry I didn’t get her name but I want her to know. She was very nice and helpful. This park is nice. I like that they have a path going around the lake beautiful views. Plenty of activities for families.

This park has really gone downhill. Like is this a park or a dump? Never open at consistent times, like any time the gates should be open in the morning they aren't. The lake is polluted from all the nasty boats because no one can be bothered to clean that either. Trash on every trail too. Oh but at least with all the car traffic, it also smells terrible

This State Park is dedicated to the long hunters (usually 6-18 months) who arrived in this region by the 1760s. Some well known long hunters were Daniel Boone and Davy Crockett. The State Park consists of approximately 2600 acres with fishing and hiking. The visitor center is very nice and a neat gift shop. The employees were very friendly and helpful.

Park map could be easier to read... There is several hiking trails. Swimming is allowed only at Bryant Grove area, but the water had white foam it it there and there was several geese in the area, and they left their dropping behind. I would not personally swim there. They have camping areas, boating/fishing, meeting rooms also. It says there is a gift shop but it was closed when I visited the park. The pier is nice for fishing.
