We recently stayed here for the first time, at a KOA for the first time too! Our initial impressions were positive; the amenities were great, and the young woman who checked us in was friendly. However, a few issues marred our stay. **Positive Aspects:** - The river and surrounding areas were beautiful, we enjoyed our time at the river the most! - The pool was well-maintained and not too crowded. Ideal if you have younger children. - The coffee stand employee was friendly and provided excellent service. - The location is convenient, with easy access to town and plenty of parking. More of a vacation for us than camping. It was the least crowded time I’ve been to Leavenworth and so much yummy food! -The music with Chris Ward was a great time on our last evening. **Negative Aspects:** - Our fire pit was less than 6 feet away from the site next to ours, where there wasn’t even room to put three chairs around it without them touching. We asked an employee who delivered us firewood if we could move the ring to the other side of the gravel that faced the river and had no neighboring site. He said, "oh yeah, no problem, it just lifts right up." So, we did. The next morning, an employee in a truck came flying up and started yelling at me that we could not move the fire pit. I told him we had asked and got the okay, but I apologized still. Then, someone in a golf cart pulled up, and I felt like I was being raided by the cops or something. He came into our site and grabbed the pit, moving the logs and everything very aggressively while my partner was still asleep in the tent. It was very awkward and uncomfortable. My partner was upset and sent a message saying he didn’t appreciate how the guy treated me, especially since it was their fault for their employee telling us we could move it. Their response was simply quoting the rule book and saying it’s a $100 fine for moving the fire ring, with no apology for the rudeness or misunderstanding of their employee telling us we could. - Another incident involved a rude response from an older woman in the office to a camper who arrived slightly early. He was not allowed to park in the empty parking lot (I mean it was completely empty but employee cars) for a short while to wait for his check in, instead was told he would have to leave the grounds, which seemed unnecessarily harsh given the circumstances. While the campground has some nice features, the negative experiences with staff and poor customer service have left us reluctant to return. If we return we’d probably check out another campground or local hotel. The photo of the fire going is where we moved the pit to, on the other side of our site where it made more sense and was plenty safe. The other photo shows how close it was to our neighbors originally.

This place is beautifully kept. The staff are really nice and helpful. There are a lot of spaces of all types, including many cabins. The sites are close together, but doesn't feel it. This is a very kid friendly park. Lots of activities and social events. There is a pool, playground, very nice outdoor lounging area, and the bathrooms are very nice and clean.

So much fun. Customer service was phenomenal, and I was very happy to be a part of this Campground for my first time camping at a place like this. We brought all of our kids, and they all had a phenomenal time. We spent time riding around on bikes, electric scooters, and push scooters. There was Riverfront access, a pool, and a concessions store. It was so much fun and very clean. Would definitely go back.

It is absolutely mind blowing to me that they charge close to $200 a night for a 2 bedroom cabin with no bathroom and no kitchen. The cabin has electricity so it makes no sense why there can't be at least be a mini fridge. There is also almost no surface area for playing games or eating inside the cabins when it is too hot to be outside. On the plus side, there is air conditioning in the cabins. There are way too few bathroom and dish washing stations for how many tent sites or no bathroom cabins there are. 6 toilet stalls in the women's restroom between the two comfort stations and just 6 showers. The sites felt very on top of each other with limited privacy. It seems like the crowded in as many sites or cabins as possible to maximize their profit. The pool was nice but small and often crowded . The water had limited visibility (you can't see the bottom of the pool) which makes for a major safety concern when trying to keep an eye on small children. They do offer a lot of fun activities for the kids but be prepared to be charged extra for activities. For tie dye, it's $16 for a shirt. For making a stuffed animal another $16. $5 to paint a magnet. The bouncy castle and movie nights were at least free. Oh and also be prepared to fork over another $10+ when your kid latches onto a toy at the gift shop and begs you for it all weekend. On the plus side, quiet hours were enforced and staff members were visible and good about enforcing rules. The walk down to the river was nice and there is enough area out of the main channel to safely play or swim.

We had a reservation at the KOA in Leavenworth for August 22-25. We arrived at 10 am on Thursday, hoping to check in early so we could attend a meeting. Our assigned campsite was empty and clean, but we were not allowed to check in early, and in fact, had to park in the Safeway parking lot and unhook the trailer until the "official check-in time," so we could go to our meeting. Given that our site was empty [and clean], and our request for an early check-in was polite, reasonable and logical, we think we should have been allowed to check-in early. We were very disappointed; the KOA service has always been very customer-oriented.
