I've been camping here 2-4 times a year for quite a few years. It was great the first few times. Since then, they've made upgrades and gone through more employees than I can count. I go in their off-season to avoid tubers and drunk college kids. I never had a problem getting a spot on the river until the last 3 or 4 times I went. This last time was the last time I'll be back. After a lengthy conversation with the man running the place about how he can't rent me a spot on the river because they're waiting for a group of 6 or more to occupy each (they won't, they never do), he reluctantly rents me a spot right next to a couple camping in their RV, who I'm sure also wanted their space, peace, and quiet. I get it, everyone wants to make as much money as they can off anyone they can, but this is ridiculous. I usually AM in a group of 4-6 people and we spend hundreds of dollars on firewood and various items from the store. I couldn't wrap my brain around why this was such an issue for the Lazy L&L. It's not like I showed up on 4th of July weekend and asked for a huge spot that would've put anyone out. No, I asked for one spot along a line of 10 empty ones. After I was assigned my spot, he informs me that there is now a 3% service charge for running a credit card. Please, enjoy that 45 cents as it will be the last of my money y'all will ever get. Imagine being so focused on that bottom line that you've run off a loyal customer of about a decade, one who puts up with the screaming psycho winter RV camper year after year who can't control herself and screams at every passerby who kicks up one speck of dust and blasts their picture on your Facebook page. But it's okay to let her harass the rest of your patrons, right? After all, she's paying you the big bucks. The Lazy L&L is the most beautiful, and yet the worst, camping spot on the Guadalupe. Here's your trophy 🏆 ✌

Everything was perfect until we got down to Devils Playground. The amount of disrespectful adults shooting everyone in the face with water guns was astonishing. Even when asked nicely to stop, they would still continue. On top of that, there was no place to pop up a chair because everyone had claimed a spot the night before with their canopies. I mean, you had to walk across people floating, carrying your chairs/cooler while being shot with waterguns to find a place to enjoy. Then, when you found a place, you had to listen to disgusting music, and have pot blowing in your face. TO BE CLEAR, it was not a family friendly environment, at Devils Playground. Now, the reservation was easy, the people were friendly at check in, the general store employees were super friendly, the site was clean, and trash was picked up daily. The camp-site was beautiful and spacious. We stayed at site 26. We absolutely had a wonderful time at our camp-site, but if you're going to enjoy Devils Playground, don't get your hopes up too high. Unless, you're cool with a bunch of grown ups acting like 10 year olds, then it may be your vibe.

Beautiful park right on the river. The owners do a good job keeping it clean and they have everything you need right there to float the river. However, it’s packed with people, I mean packed. Bumper tubes on the river, blasting music all day and all evening. Tent canopies all over the devils playground 24/7 staking claim so you can’t set up a lawn chair to enjoy. Drunk/stoned people everywhere. I would not take kids here.

Our favorite campground along River Road. Live music on the weekends. Horseshoes, washer boards and volleyball courts are available. Clean sites and bathrooms. The devils playground is awesome to relax on a hot day.
