About This Campsite
Hiking Trails: The park boasts a variety of hiking trails, suitable for different skill levels. There are options for both challenging and easy hikes. The trails are well-marked, though often steep and strenuous, so it's advised to bring plenty of water and pace yourself. Don't miss the opportunity to hike up to the summit where you can enjoy the sweeping views and watch birds soar gracefully in the sky.
Wildlife: Along some trails, such as Pigeon Hill, you're likely to encounter local wildlife, including deer, offering a serene experience in nature.
Museum and Visitor Center: The on-site museum provides an engaging educational experience, and the visitor center is a great starting point for your adventure, offering maps and friendly advice. It's complemented by a gift shop for those looking to take a piece of their visit home.
Parking: Be mindful that parking can be tricky, particularly later in the day. Utilizing early hours can alleviate this issue and make your visit more enjoyable. An America the Beautiful pass can be used to cover parking fees.
Seasonal Beauty: While the park is a beautiful visit any time of the year, many agree that spring is a particularly stunning time to visit due to the flowering trees that adorn the landscape.
Overall, Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park stands out as a well-maintained site that offers both cultural history and a natural escape, making it highly recommended for those within the vicinity. Whether for a quick visit or an extended hike, the park provides a memorable experience rich with scenic and historical value.

It was a fun trail and hike. I went early, so parking was not a problem. On the way back to the car, I saw NPS employees checking for cars for passes. I added Pigeon Hill to my hike, which has many deer nearby. There are lots of steep/strenuous areas, so bring plenty of water!

It's a great trail - well two, there is a harder side and an easier side. Also the museum onsite is really well done, with a cool gift shop.

A great place to hike. Lots of history. Beautiful nature. And a wonderful place on top to sit and watch birds soar on airstreams while they hunt. The top is also a great place to meditate, read, and talk with God. The staff here are superb. Ranger Mary is extremely knowledgeable and I always try to stop by to say hi whenever I'm there.

I purposely went to the park late in the afternoon, so I expected parking to be a pain, which it was. I really love visiting national park units though (40+ and counting), so it wasn't the worst thing in the world. I was there to hike anyway, but I used my America the Beautiful pass to cover the parking fee. From the overflow parking lot, I bee-lined to the Visitor Center to get a map and my stamp. After that, I immediately started the 1-mile hike up the main trail to the summit. The trail started to ascend almost immediately and it's very rocky, so pace yourself if you need to. There aren't a huge number of benches along the trail, but the trails are extremely well marked. Overall, this park is honestly one of the best maintained units I've ever seen, but I have to assume it's because of the number of locals who visit. Seeing it in spring is probably the best part because of all the beautiful flowering trees. Shameless plug: I visit all kinds of parks and share them on my IG @domsdillydallies if you're interested!
