Decent public camping area with porta pots and locked entry. They have large and small sites. The large sites are called group sites. They have room for three cars and several tents. Some of which have permanent covered shelters. The small family sites have room for one car and a couple of tents. All sites have a really nice fire ring with a cooking grate. When you book the site you can have wood delivered to the site for your stay. The sites are kind of close together and you can see other people. Sometimes it can get a little noisy. For instance, there was a Cub Scout Troop right next to our site when I stayed and it got a bit noisy. And then there's always the people that sneak alcohol in and play their music too loud. The area does have very nice well-marked and well-maintained hiking trails. Best time to go would probably be during the week if you wanted more privacy.

Beautiful trails to hike. Campground was pretty full on Saturday but I ended up the only camper in the campground on Sunday. It was complete bliss

Lovely campground but my girlfriend got bit by a copper head while we were unloading the car. The fire department came out and cleared the campsite when she was released from the hospital, they were super nice and helpful. Found 3 more copperheads.

JMF is a hidden gem. Great trails and well kept. Lots of people with not sane dogs off leash often, but a beautiful place to hike and look at nature.
