It's known for its beautiful views of Mount Rainier, peaceful waterfront, and a well-maintained camping space that appeals to both overnight visitors and day-trippers.

Location

The specific address and city title aren't provided, but the park is located in Washington State, offering proximity to natural beauty and nearby civilization.

Park Features

  • Scenic Views: Enjoy pristine views of Mount Rainier from the beach and pier areas.
  • Camping: The campground is thoughtfully situated with access to clean restrooms and token-operated showers. Note that a little planning about token management for showers could enhance your experience.
  • Beach and Waterfront: While beaches are small and boardered by private property signs, they offer a lovely space for a relaxing walk or a fun exploration with kids.
  • Activities: There's opportunity for boating, fishing, and enjoying wildlife such as seals.
  • Nature Trails: Explore the forest trails leading to the beach, though watch out for some wear and tear on the steps.
  • Facilities: The park offers basic amenities and is a very short drive or walk away from dining options if camp cuisine doesn't suffice.

Tips for Visitors

  • Plan visits on weekdays for ample parking and less crowded beaches.
  • Consider using running shoes for safety while enjoying the trails.
  • Due to the park's elevation, be ready for some hiking when moving between the beach and campsite.

This was my first visit to a WA state park. It was a weekday so there was plenty of parking. The bathrooms are easily accessible and pretty clean overall. The weather was beautiful. Mount Rainier was visible from the beach and the dock. It's a great place to take your dog to play on the beach. So peaceful walking along the water. Walked out on the pier to the dock and found quite the surprise in the water.

This campground is a small, well maintained space surrounded by parkland and homes nestled in a fairly mature forested area. We stayed in site 1. This site is across from clean restrooms with a “pay by token” shower, a water faucet and the garbage bins are a very short walk out of the site. This site has no one camping to the right (looking into site) or behind you. The sites are all fairly shallow but you can manage to set up in a way that gives you some privacy… or at least so you don’t have to stare at everyone coming and going. (Unless you’re into that then just plop your chairs upfront and watch away 🙂) The trees provide great shade and play space for many birds and the occasional squirrel (who will come into your site looking for scraps when you’re not looking) The beach is pretty small with “Private property, no trespassing” signs at either end of the park boundary. These are there to prevent you from walking any further along the beach in front of the homes. This was a little disappointing to us. The beach area has washrooms with an outside showering area to rinse the sand off before you hike back up to the campground. The campground is at a higher elevation than the beach (as per my phone 16 stories were climbed from beach to campsite). We walked down the road to the beach first thing in the morning with only a bike passing us but the rest of the time we found it better to use the trail. We also noticed a lot of people drove down from their campsite 😏 A few of the trail steps have seen better days, be careful of metal spikes sticking out of a few rotted wooden boards, running shoes would probably be the best footwear on this trail! The only real negative about the campground was that while showering, if you needed to add more tokens, you had to get out of the shower and walk across the stall to insert more… yes it’s a small space maybe only 4 - 5 feet away but I thought it would have been better installed outside the shower within reach. The door stall has gaps … need I say more 😆 We did enjoy our time here and …it’s actually very close to civilization so if you get bored of camp food you can walk, drive, or skip the dishes some local cuisine.

For what it is, I have no complaints. It’s a nice little neighborhood spot to watch for seals and the alike. When the tide is down, it’s a nice area to walk around. Great view of Mt Rainier

Look, I like parks. It would be tough for me to give less than 4 stars. As with everything I review I think of it in its "niche". You can't compare a beautiful botanical garden to a small local park so I try to go into more detail in my comments as to pluses and minuses. This park is really 2 parks, the upper camping area and the lower waterfront area. The waterfront has a small area where you can explore the shore, great for kids, a few picnic tables scattered around and a long pier with great views on a clear day. Fishing and boating and a clean restroom are also here. The upper camping area is nice and I believe it is open year round. The area is well maintained and while I wouldn't consider it a "destination" it makes a nice stopover if you are in the area.
