Beautiful Mountain! Totally different shapes than all the mountains around here! The guided tour by one of the rangers was very nice. Elizabeth I believe her name was, very knowledgeable. The pictographs, some she would enhance through an app on her phone where we could really see the details!

Small park with a surprising amount of hoops you have to jump through. When you enter, you have to fill out paperwork. Then you have to drive to another building and watch a 10 minute video on the area and how not to be a moron with the historic sites. 😂 Anyway, once past that, this is a bouldering paradise. My 10 and 8 year old boys loved it as did I. They could have spent all day here. We did the chain trail (with massive amounts of excess bouldering) as well as the Site 17 and Pond Trail. Really enjoyed it. Highly recommend.

Very small park and they only let so many people in each day. Highly recommend reservations in advance for a tour. Our tour guide John was awesome. We had access to areas of the park that you don't get just entering yourself. We got to see several walls of pictographs (both ancient and more modern). Vast amounts of historical and archaeological information learned throughout the tour. Some bouldering required to get to some locations so wear good shoes, a hat, and take some water if it's hot. Great experience.

BEAUTIFUL!!! I loved that we could explore and climb up the mountain, they provide chain ropes once you get to a certain height. It was so fun and informative on the cultural, history, and the archaeological grounds you’re taking pictures of. Sooo fun

Hueco Tanks State Park was one of the most intriguing experiences I’ve had. This powerful energetic land speaks to you as you free-range boulder and hike through staggering formations and geological structures. With 1000’s of years of history, the park is riddled with 100’s and 100’s of ancient pictographs. Once you get a knack for where they typically are, certain over-hangs and crawl spaces, you begin to figure out where to look for them. As I spotted likely areas I would crawl, scoot, slide on back and belly to get through spaces in search and half the time I’d find some. Simply amazing. One of my new top favorite parks in the world.
