Hickory Creek COE is a wonderful campground. The sites are well laid out and separated from each other and the electric hookups seem to be pretty new. It’s close to the city buy it feels like it’s in the country. Many of the sites are on the water, so if you have a kayak you can put in right there. My only comment (not really a complaint) is that some of the sites are short and sharply sloped.

I have stayed here atlast a dozen times. Never once have I hated the experience. It's a nice place for a starter getting to use to camping, McDonald's and Walmart are a 5 minute drive from this place if you can't do the whole outside experience.

Easy to navigate. Clean & well kept. Campground closes at 10 and most sites are too far to walk. You can go out but you can’t come in here. If you’re considering parking outside of the gate after 10, make sure you choose a site is closest to gate. Restaurants and shopping centers are within 10 minutes. Nice location! Beautiful view of lake and traffic. Very friendly staff, will visit again.

Great Corps of Engineers campground on Lewisville Lake right outside of Dallas. Plenty of space between sites which are paved and come with 20/30/50A and water. The bath houses are very well maintained, and the showers were fairly warm. Walking paths connect all the campground loops, so you can walk the dog, etc. without having to walk on the road. Gate is locked at night, but there is an automatic opener to get out. However, there is no way back in until morning. Saw lots of deer wandering around in the evening. Great price of $15/night with an interagency pass.
