I love trail running here. Trails are marked well and maintained even better. There are several branches to run off from and easy slopes to overcome. Elevation comes gradually. You can bike here as well. Plenty of parking and there are picnic areas here to enjoy.

The good: price is very good for the area. It was decently quiet at night and there was only gun fire one evening during our stay (way less than the other camp near DC We stayed at). Camp hosts were awesome! The bad: no hook ups at all. The ugly: roads are really really bad.

We came with 15 scouts for the 4th of July week if you have your scouts be prepared to do the park and ride at the Greenbelt Metro station. It is not walkable. The bathrooms in loop A are very basic the only water available is well water which your scouts will have to pump. Also watch out for ticks they were quite prevalent. Park is very relaxing and the staff is great. .

Nice camping spot tucked away in the suburbs. Had a nice set of lots in an isolated loop for our Boy Scout Troop. Very easy driving access to two different Metro lines (Orange and Green) for worry free trips into DC.

I won't call this a "Hidden Gem" but it's pretty cute and very inexpensive. I've also never seen it completely full. I was just there last Saturday night 6/29/2024 and there were plenty of empty spots. This place looks like it's in a heavy traffic area and it is but the campground feels very secluded and mostly quiet. They have a decent shower and bathroom. There are interesting hikes and things to do in the park. Shopping, fast food, groceries, etc. are all very close by. I like this campground because it's close, easy, and friendly.
