Have been camping here for the past two years and it's just a great spot. It's close to Denver but still far enough away to escape. The campground is quite clean, the campsites large. Our group was all adults and we weren't annoyed or anything by the amount of kids -- the campground felt pretty quiet all-around. I did have to tell off some people who were blasting music at midnight, but that's not the park's fault! Lastly, LOVED the raptor program.

Golden Gate Park is a place I have camped alone or with friends and family. It is a value for what they offer. Tent sites with electricity or the cabins and yurts are always a pleasure. Clean and very nice bathroom facilities. I always sleep wonderfully because of the peace and quiet. The fishing is always great and the size of the fish at the visitor center are impressive. No catching those ones though. I keep coming back again and again and hope you too give it a try.

Traveling through Colorado, we randomly decided to hike at this state park and are so glad we did. The staff were friendly and when we asked for a good hike under 2 hours, they recommended the Raccoon trail. What a beautiful trail. We saw so many wildflowers and birds, including hummingbirds. The trail was a great mix of casual walking as well as rocky inclines and the perfect amount of easy and challenging, though I wouldn't consider it a difficult or challenging trail overall. But the view once you get back near the panoramic lookout was absolutely incredible. Just a tip, start left on the trail (from the deck) it was way more rewarding with the incredible view near the end that way.

Nice state park. This place is quite massive. For hiking many of the trails are on the east side but a drive through or around the entire park is quite fun. The trails can be less shaded so for a summer hike be prepared. Happy travels
