There are many great parks in Indiana but Fort Harrison State Park is one of the jewels. It's an urban park on Indianapolis' northeast side. It's about 2 miles east of I-465 and 4 miles north of I-70. Walking/hiking trails range from short up to about 4 miles. Biking is permitted on most trails so keep a sharp eye open. Fishing is permitted in both ponds and Fall Creek. Playgrounds and picnic facilities abound. Great sledding hill for snowy winter days. Some permanent restrooms are around (no pit toilets). These are closed during the winter months. Several fine local restaurants are within 5 to ten minutes. See their online calendar for special events. No overnight facilities on the property. The park is adjacent to The Fort golf course.

We met some friends for a hike, horse rides and playtime at the play area. Many families celebrating in the shelter houses and passed lots of people on the trail but it didn't seem too crowded. Trails are great for walking, jogging, birding, or just being out in nature. Never the same trip twice! There is so much more to do on our future trips!

Nice and clean state park just near to i-465 near to indianapolis. Few trails and hikes available (both easy and moderate) to explore. Would have liked if there was a solid campground. It’s a really cool park adjacent to city, within 10 mins radius there are lots of restaurants. Would definitely recommend anyone looking for a park near indianapolis.

Went there for a foraging event along m g Fall Creek Trail. They had restrictive orange fencing preventing hikers from going off of the trails and apparently foraging out even wandering through the woods is prohibited. I don't know why anyone would want to visit that kind of park. Sprawling acreage of woods, creek and fields to look at from a distance . The state takes your taxes, violently and then charges you even more to visit the park that your taxes have paid for so you can be restricted in your travels on that land. How many people still think that the USSA is a free country or that the military fights for freedom? Don't be stupid. This is fascism 100%

My first time going to this park and it is beautiful. It's huge and the friend that took me there took me to teach me how to fish so we went to the lake area and fished off of the side of the lake and also the dock that goes into it. There's also another lake area across from that through the trails but we decided to show me the spot the next time we go. I'm excited to see all the trails that the park has to offer (which are a lot) because I know it'll be beautiful when the trees get their leaves again. I've heard it's dog friendly as long as you pay a fee and the dog has proof of updated shots, so it'll be a great time to go on the trails with your fur babies. The dock on the lake gave a gorgeous view of the sunset and anywhere in the park would be a lovely place to take photographs.
