I’ve been camping since I was little and this was by far the worst camping grounds I’ve ever been to. No showers, unpaved walkways, lake is not even as close as the map described it to be, the yellow jackets and mosquitos swarming you the minute you grab any food (had to have meals in our hot tent because they wouldn’t leave us alone), and the BEARS. You mean to tell us bears are active day and night and there’s no bear boxes? The funding went to the gift store instead of making the experience likeable for campers. 10 dollars for like 6 pieces of wood, the only running water is by the restroom which is far from literally ever campsite except like 1 or 2. Plus you can’t even wash dishes there, you’re expected to carry a bucket of water back to your campsite and wash them at your campsite (the hills are intense yall). Our family was harassed terribly by the bears hiding in the bushes staring at us, breaking into multiple cars, walking right up to our campgrounds and stalking us in the car we chose to sleep in because we were genuinely too scared to sleep in our tent. Carmen was nice, the only good part was being with family. Plus the only walkable lake entrance is right by the boats dock. Don’t be like us and go in there, we came out completely covered in oily slime and again NO SHOWERS. If you wanna go to the lake, expect to drive a couple minutes down route 222 to find a good beach. I don’t know how this place has such good reviews, but my love for camping lives on. Just not here. Ever. Again.

I wrote this review on Recreation.gov but also wanted to add my photos here. I would give this campground a 5/5 if it were not for the swarms of mosquitos we encountered. They were relentless during the daylight hours, mostly at dusk, at the time you'd want to make dinner, enjoy sunset, and have a fire. Otherwise this campsite was great. #19 provides more privacy than any of the other spots in this campground. I saw spots 26-28 have a great view of the water, which was absolutely beautiful at sunrise. The camp host was very friendly and informative. We saw no bears to my relief. This campsite was about 45 min from the south entrance of Yosemite. If not for the mosquitos, I would recommend this campground to others. Maybe it will be better in the dryer summer months regarding this.

Stayed there May 22nd,23d,24th left the 25th. This place has turned out to be the BEST camp site I have been to in years. Definitely the CLEANEST I've ever seen. The host is awesome and full of information. For as many people that were there it was extremely peaceful, quite, and relaxing. The nights were great and having a fire was fantastic!!! The views were good. The lake was very nice. Store close. They did inform us that some road work was going to be done so we would have to take the detour to get back in as well as to let us know to keep ALL FOOD CLEANED UP and in cars as well as any trash to please throw it away. Due to the fact a young bear had made an appearance a couple of times recently. Very thankful for the info as our last night there we were awaken by someone yelling and scaring off a bear which we heard and smelled when inside our tent. All I have to say is DON'T COUNT on your dog barking if a bear is around. All my dog did was to whine to let me know. She stopped when the bear was gone. I would definitely recommend this site and will stay there again with out a second guess.
