I spent a couple days here and it was fantastic. Some of the sites have a bit of an incline but you can work with it. Lots of bluegill to catch and Silver lake is a short drive away. The pit toilets were clean and maintained. Rent out C11 if you can; it's big and off the main road.

You have to check in at park headquarters. Google maps took us to the wrong side of the lake, so be cautious, hopefully they fix it. We stayed at C14 which is close enough to the rustic bathrooms (no showers/running water) and lake which has a dock, but not really to swim in. I wish the campsite was a little more secluded, which some sites were. Had a bench, fire circle, and two large trees perfect for a hammock. They were all out of firewood for sell, so bring your own.

It was super quiet, and even though the lack of showers hurt me emotionally I was prepared for that. The dock is super nice for fishing, the boat launch is maintained really well. There are loads of other lakes and recreational areas locally if a quiet weekend of camping isn't for you. The vault toilets were very well taken care of and I think they got cleaned more than the bathrooms at some other camp grounds. We stayed in site 11 and it's huge big enough for 2 fairly large tents, an easy up, and all of the family chairs, with enough room to play corn hole still. The lake is a good little kayaking spot, but there isn't a beach for swimming, but a quick drive gets you to the silver lake area that has a huge beach and rec area.

This place used to be a secluded paradise. It's gotten busier in recent years and people no longer respect its once pristine environment. Trash everywhere. People are feeding the raccoons, and now they come beg for food and raid your camp at night. I can't cook my food over the fire pits because they're full of aluminum cans and other garbage. On top of that, they charge an extra $8 registration fee in addition to the $20 per night. I can understand a small registration fee, but $8 is outrageous. The State of Michigan is getting real greedy... Only a couple years ago it was $10 a night and $2 fee.
