Cottonwood Campground
Nestled alongside the serene Platte River, Cottonwood Campground is known for its picturesque views and tranquil atmosphere. This site offers a pleasant retreat for campers seeking a peaceful getaway amidst nature. With its ample shade and easy access to the river, it's a great spot for both relaxation and exploration.
Key Features
- A mix of parallel paved sites and river's edge spots provide options for various camping preferences.
- The campground is shaded with large sites, making it easy for campers to park without the hassle of backing in.
- Access to clean, albeit slightly dated, shower and bathroom facilities.
- Electric hookups available with 20, 30, and 50 amp service.
Things to Consider
- Due to ongoing construction in summer 2023, campers may encounter areas with sand piles and site flooding.
- The water spigot may not be operational; plan to refill water tanks at the Day Use Area if necessary.
- Reservations must be made only 30 days in advance, which might require planning, especially if booking multiple sites together.
- Some of the river's edge sites may be very sandy, which could affect accessibility and comfort.
User Tips
- Spot 124 is recommended, and pulling in the opposite way could enhance your camping experience by having your door face the grass instead of the road.
- Families with children might enjoy the abundance of frogs in the area, perfect for exploration and play.
Overall, Cottonwood Campground offers a charming escape with its beautiful scenery and accommodating layout. While there are some challenges due to construction and water access, its inviting environment and friendly community atmosphere make it a worthwhile destination for nature lovers. Planning ahead and considering the tips above can help ensure a delightful camping experience.
