A very peacefull park by the ohio river. There are pretty nice hiking trial in every level easy to rugged. I did #6 and #4 and rose island. The trails are not crowded, which i like most. There are a lot parking space. I was out of state resident, I had to $9 to use the park. I think it is a very good a day hiking tours here. I got pit toilet atround #6 trail as well, which is pretty good.

All around an incredible campground and start to the camping season. Wasn't busy yet, so very quiet and peaceful. Incredibly clean, both the outdoor property and restrooms. Maintained trails and fascinating history about Rose Island. Would highly recommend!

Friendly staff ran into a ranger giving a tour during the end of my walk down into Rose Island, and you could feel his enthusiasm for the history of the land. The incline on trail 7 on the way back up was NO joke! There are several other hiking trails to go on and lots of places to sit if needed.

Family loves this place...BUT after the incident that happened last night... I don't believe it's safe to camp here! Tent was cut and slashed open by neighboring campers. While my uncle and dogs slept. When he woke up and poked his head outside, the neighboring site was leaving in a hurry. They were booked for a week, then all of sudden, packed up and left. They were mad we told them it's rude to walk through campsites. Especially when occupied. When confronting the park office, my family was told..."it's your word against theirs." That's fine. I'll be sure to pass on the info that Charlestown State Park is VERY UNSAFE My families dogs lay up against the back of the tent. If they would've been cut by ignorant morons there would have been HELL TO PAY. 🙄
