First, the good. The sites here are well spaced, paved, and level. There is a gravel patio area separated from the paved rv slot, with a generous picnic table. The bath houses are clean and have private showers. The overall park setting is excellent, and it just screams Arizona in every way. If that were the end of the story, this would be a five star park. HOWEVER, two problems take it down to three. There's no sewer hookups which, under normal circumstances, although not preferable, would have been tolerable due to the well maintained bath house. BUT, when I used the shower, I found that it was the push button variety with no temperature adjustment. Which ALSO would have been tolerable, except the only temp you get is WHITE HOT! It was legit painful, so much so that I could barely get through my shower and didn't dare let my children use it. Okay, so maybe I'm just a whimp. But still - does anyone want a boiling hot shower when it's 100 freaking Arizona degrees outside? Really? Come on guys, put in some adjustable faucets, or at least ones that don't allow scalding. It's unsafe, and you're wasting energy.

This park is rad! Currently staying here for the next week. It's quiet and scenic, great hiking trails. Yesterday we saw deer and a pack of javelina in the span of a half hour. Bunnies, quail, and coyotes you see often. Hot water at the showers and good water pressure. Will definitely return

Seemed nice enough though my son wasn't too thrilled with the showers. He doesn't like those ones that you have to keep pushing the button. We only stopped for the electric. Too dang hot to be exploring much. I'm sure it's very nice when the weather is cooler.

We loved this very quiet campground. The only thing that would make it better would be full hook-ups. There was 50 amp power and water, but no sewer hook-up. Sani-dump was available. We had site 32 for a week and site 30 for a week. Both were very nice back-in sites, but 32 was the best in the park. No near neighbors, beautiful mountain views. Our sites were clean and raked and most would easily handle our 36' fifth wheel. Rangers were helpful and had guided bird walks. Hiking trails were nice with lovely views. We had decent phone signal - good enough to stream on our hotspot with AT&T. The nearby towns of Cave Creek & Carefree were interesting to visit too. Maricopa County Parks offer the best RV camping in the greater Phoenix area in our opinion. But they aren't resorts. They are places to enjoy the natural beauty of the area and the great outdoors.

We are from the area and have stayed here twice now, in spots 2 and 4. We didn’t love 2 only because our small camper felt a bit “exposed” in the parking spot (it’s like you are parking on street parking), but spot 4 was a back in and we loved it. The campgrounds are always so clean; the staff at both the entrance and the nature center are so kind and friendly!! My boys loved the nature center, loved the playground, and we also really enjoyed the beautiful hikes. It’s quiet and there is ample space between sites, which we really appreciate. The only downside is the lack of tall mature trees, as this is true desert, so there just isn’t much shade which makes it really hot during the months of May-October. But if you’re coming to mainly sleep there, or sleep and hike, the venture into town, it’s perfect. It’s only about 15-20 minutes from downtown Cave Creek which has tons of restaurants (love El Encanto, Big Earls, Local Johnny’s, Brunch), but also only 10 minutes from Sprouts, Walmart, Fry’s Grocery, Lowe’s, Home Depot and Glaze donuts (local awesome donut place)! Highly recommend this campground!
