Since August of ‘23 there have been AT LEAST 10 break ins of automobiles. (4 just today 11/16/23 in broad light) I met with one victim this afternoon and he said he left his car parked/locked for 10-15 minutes and when he came back his car was ransacked…wallet stolen with his Medicare Card in it. Windows smashed in… I have pictures of the aftermath which I’ll post… this is an important warning ⚠️ if you still want to visit this park you need to hold on to all valuables… the only think the Park Rangers do is periodically cruise the park safe & warm in tax payer vehicles… and IF they do spot any broken glass they get the maintenance people to quickly clean up the evidence so the public feel safe. YOUR CHOICE TO EITHER VISIT OR DEMAND THE PARK HIGHER UPS TO INSTALL MULTIPLE TRAIL CAMS TO CATCH THESE BRAZEN THUGS. This crime riddled State Park has gotten to the level of epidemic proportions… and the Park Rangers have done NOTHING to ensure any security improvements… today I saw the scariest evidence … I have 11 new pictures… YOU MUST CHOOSE… support a no care attitude OR find a more secure/feel safe park to enjoy

This park is a hidden unexpected gem 💎 located in North East Philadelphia. It’s almost 300 acres and includes walking trails 🏃🏾♀️🚶, picnic 🧺 areas, hiking 🥾, community gardens 🥬🥕🍅🪴 complete with bee 🐝 hives and a Radio Controlled Airplane ✈️ Club ! It borders the Poquessing Creek on the north. This is a great 😌 place for a run , walk or enjoying the scenery.

This nature refuge is just blocks from Roosevelt Blvd. Finding the car entrance was a little tricky, but once you're in, parking lots are in 3 locations around the park. The trails are generally flat and offer paved sections for biking and strollers. PHS provides community garden space onsite with water access. We went slightly off the trail to find Poquessing Creek and a shady watering hole being enjoyed by kids. There are restrooms with plumbing and there are kiosks with maps and interpretive signage on the trails. On a summer afternoon visit, we saw a fox, rabbit, lots of butterlflies and a variety of birds.

I love this park. It's a real hidden treasure, shockingly big for being right off main roads. I am a new gardener there this year (they have community garden plots) and it's lovely to drive up and park... I always see people walking dogs or biking or etc

Love coming here with my kids and husband. Perfect for younger kids with it not being overwhelmingly long, liked stopping to read the boards,seeing deer and enjoying the time to bond with the family. Beautiful spots for pictures too!!
