Great park! We camped here for a week, it was amazing! The staff were friendly, park is very quiet and well maintained! Shower is hot, bathroom is clean, laundry room is clean. Lots of room between sites. Trees are in every site so you can get lots of shade. The board walk plants are slightly overgrown but it doesn’t bother me at all! Had a great time here, would recommend!

UPDATE AT TOP: The state parks administration called us back out. I give them props for that. They were apologetic and very polite. They made the situation right. I can't comment whether the issue is fixed as I haven't been out to the cabins, but I very much appreciate them treating people properly. I respect that very much. We'll definitely be back to the LA state parks again. We had a pretty good family reunion down here. Local air boat tours was a blast for adults and kids, costly though. The guides are super knowledgeable on the wildlife and show it to you. The cabins at Bayou Segnette State Park are hit or miss. For one, the area typically floods (no big surprise) so bring boots and have maw-maw ready to potentially walk through ~4-8" of water just to get up to the cabin ramp. But, DO NOT RENT CABINS 1 - 4!!!!! We rented those. Thankfully #1 was deemed "uninhabitable" by the front desk without any other info. Cabins 2 - 4 were INFESTED with water beetles and had 3 - 4 dead termites found on the master bed daily (falling out of the air vent). The beetles don't bite, thankfully, but they will make most folks squeamish. I'm talking about finding anywhere from 40 - 50 beetles dead or scurrying around per day, mostly in the master bed room, but anywhere the AC vents are open. This was a total surprise to us and a huge dampener on our family reunion. Otherwise the facilities inside the cabin were nice (oven, microwave, shower, toilet, etc.) and the place didn't smell bad. The fishing was pretty decent off the porch, caught a ~25lb catfish, lots of really small ones that are perfect for the kids, and a bunch of tiny crabs. Keep supporting LA state parks, but please DO NOT rent cabins 1 - 4 here. We've involved the LA Lt. Governor and have yet to hear back from him. We've also involved management from the state park and haven't heard back from them either (2 weeks in).

This is a beautiful park. The day area has a lot to offer. The campground has gone downhill. We spent a week there. Our site had not been mowed. We flagged the guy mowing and asked him to do it. The first night, there was a bad storm that knocked down several trees. In the week that we spent there, nobody cleared the mess from the storm. The trees were cut but left in the site they fell. The roads were full of debris. Some of the sites are in need of repairs. They are sinking from all the flooding. It was very quiet. There were tons of spots for RVs available. It’s about a 30 minute drive to Downtown NO.

The campground at this state park is quite spacious, clean, and well-maintained. Just 20 minutes outside of downtown New Orleans, this is a great place to stay if you are traveling through the area. There is more security measures, including gates that lock at night, etc. then I am used to for a state park, but I’m guessing that’s because of how close it is to the city.looks like they have a wave pool here, but we did not check it out.

When you have a family event booked months in advance and the facilities you paid for fail you! Dining hall ac didn’t work yesterday. After several e-mails and phone calls they fixed it this morning. All trails are over grown with briar patches. Pool closed today for maintenance, but the maintenance people or busy today. They are no where’s to be found. I had the kids wait all day for me to finish helping. Only to be disappointed and having to explain to your kids we tried. I am usually not one to post bad reviews. I would not recommend this State Park to anyone.
