About This Campsite

Welcome to Anderson Road Campground

Anderson Road Campground offers a fine balance of natural beauty and accessibility, making it a unique destination for outdoor enthusiasts. The campground features both paved and gravel sites, which are generally flat and easy to access. With its serene lakeside views and ample opportunities for relaxation and recreation, it's an inviting spot for both long and short stays.

Key Features

  • Variety of sites, some with direct lake access
  • Picturesque views and clear waters
  • Generally quiet and relaxing atmosphere

Important Considerations

  • Some gravel sites might require careful maneuvering for larger campers.
  • Limited sites with electrical hookups; most do not include water or electric facilities.
  • The campground's amenities, especially restrooms, could benefit from updates, being quite dated.
  • Proximity to city amenities, though also accompanied by some urban noise.

Tips for Visitors

  • Plan your visit outside of the seasonal closure, which begins after September 30th.
  • Consider bringing solar power solutions or generators due to the limited electrical sites.
  • Explore the campground map to select the best lakeside sites for tranquil views and direct water access.
  • Exercise caution on nearby roads after dark and be aware of surroundings.

Overall Thoughts

Anderson Road Campground holds much potential with its scenic environment. While there are some maintenance and modernization challenges, the charm of the lakeside sites and the natural setting make it a worthwhile destination for campers who appreciate a blend of relaxation and rustic outdoor experience.

Better than typical COE park, most sites are paved but others packed gravel that were relatively flat. Our first time here, we stopped in for a long weekend and stayed on three separate sites, All were easy enough to get into and level without any blocking. Walking around, there were a few that would have proved challenging. So be careful if you have a long rig. The lake is beautiful and the water very clear; surprisingly few bugs, even on the lakeside sites. Our only drawback was the Nashville traffic, even so we will plan a week back here next year -- they close for the winter September 30.

Beautiful campground with very spacious sites. We stayed in site #2 with lake access. There are quite a few sites with lake access so look at the campground map. I know that sites 1-7 have what looks like the best lake access. Nice and quiet within the campground. We have a starlink and site #2 gave us good service. We hung our hammocks on the trees and spent most of the day floating on the water and afternoons swinging in the hammocks! Then dinner and back on the floats until sunset. A beautiful place to relax 🥰

This is Corps of Engineers campground. Bathrooms are old, from the Cold War era and require a hike or a drive. Most of the tent sites have no electric and no water. Views from the beach are beautiful though. Sites are well maintained.

We enjoy going to this campsite because we can have our own lakeside however it is not well maintained. today for example there is nobody at the booth so anybody could come in and go and the location is not exactly safe and have requested the gate be put down after 7pm with a code so campers could access their space .. The gravel has been abused over the years and is difficult to get campers to back in properly. The bathrooms are old and need to be updated. There is only 11 spaces with electrical so the rest which is about 20 or 30 are normally vacant because these days everybody has electric and water in their units so it's not comfortable to know at night not many people are there. This campsite has so much potential and it'saddens me to see it just get so downtrodden. There is also an excellent Chinese restaurant just up the street but the Mexican restaurant is pretty poor quality. If you're ever on Smith springs road after 7:00 p.m. be sure to lock your doors and be aware of your surroundings.

I stayed here for an over night trip. It's great if you're looking for a quick getaway, but it's still in Antioch, so it's a little noisy and it can be a little rowdy. I heard gun shots and sirens from the development on the other side of the woods, but other than that, it felt like nature!
